Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

This is a Peruvian internet TV channel dedicated to disseminating projects on childhood and social development. The Bernard van Leer Foundation helped to start the channel. Its central purpose is to publish sectorial dialogues from different places around the country, public opinion, and informational notes - all through which the channel seeks to make early childhood a priority on the social and political agendas in Peru. The channel uses tools like a chat room, phone calls, and video phone calls to facilitate audience participation and interaction.

Salgalú TV is part of the communication strategies of the Inversión en la Infancia (Investment in Childhood) initiative that is oriented to raise awareness among public and private institutions as well as the citizenry about the need to invest in early childhood (0 to 5 years of age) as a key factor in poverty eradication in Peru.

The project proposes a national mobilisation of all Peruvians in favour of permanently including the issue of investment in early childhood in the action plans of the public and private sectors in the country.
