Global Twins
The programme is in two variations. The first is a twinning of schools where the learners concentrate on their city, town or environment and countries. The second is a more specific world heritage site project where schools that are situated in or near such sites concentrate on the particular site and issues related to it.
The schools work towards creating and developing artwork, written material and additional material that depict the identity of the particular schools, its learners and its locality within a particular city and country or about a particular world heritage site.
Participating schools are also expected to interact within their countries, schools and families. Additional topics are agreed upon by the participating schools in consultation with the CLRU. The produced material is exchanged, exhibited and placed on the Global Twins website.
Children, Education.
The aim of the project is to foster awareness amongst children globally to be proud of their heritage and to respect and learn about their cultures and those of their global twins. The project organisers say: "This will hopefully broaden the minds of the children and introduce children of the world to South African people and culture."
