The Communication Initiative
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Monitoring and Evaluation of Population, Health, and Nutrition Programs Workshop (Feb 4-15 2013)

This two-week course, an initiative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) MEASURE Evaluation Project, in collaboration with Addis Continental Institute of Public Health, is designed to provide intensive, hands-on training in the fundamentals of monitoring and evaluation (M & E) and in state-of-the-art practices in the field. The course will include modules on M&E frameworks, indicators, information sources and systems, evaluation designs, designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation plans, data quality, utilisation and feedback of M&E results, data demand and use, gender, qualitative methods, and the M&E of health programmes.

According to the organisers, workshop attendees will gain hands-on experience in designing monitoring and evaluating plans by doing exercises, and working in small groups throughout the workshop. The participant groups will present the results of their projects during the final day of the workshop. A field work component will involve visiting health facilities and/or non-governmental organisations implementing health programmes.

Deadline for application: December 10, 2012. The course is open to mid-level health and population officers, programme managers, and other professionals involved with the implementation of population, health, and nutrition programmes.
